This past week I had my first experience at the ALA Midwinter Meeting, and not only did I meet lots of people, I worked hard! Fortunately, I did not find Dallas to be a very exciting place with many cultural and interesting activities, so I don’t feel that I missed out on a lot. As an intern for the Committee on Legislation (COL), I attended many meetings for the committee, my Government Information Subcommittee, joint meetings with other committees, and the Legislation Assembly. This was my first introduction to the internal workings of ALA and its various groups, and I learned a lot of interesting new things about the organization, libraries, librarians, and the United States Congress. I am very excited to continue working with this dynamic group of people, working to help shape the future of America’s libraries by addressing legislation.
