I am actively focusing my job search on positions in academic libraries with reference and instruction duties. My experiences in various reference service and instructional roles has proved to be most enjoyable and challenging for me as a library science student. While I have aided researchers in various reference capacities the past few years, my instructional experience, and skills in developing virtual reference and instructional tools, are still limited. Last semester, I took a most enjoyable class in user education, and now have a solid background in methodology and philosophy in instruction, but still need more practice. This field experience I have designed for myself with the instructional librarians at NCSU will provide a wide range of activities for me to improve upon these skills.
