Instruction Workshop

My first day as a field experience student started off with a full instruction workshop run by Kim Duckett and Anne Burke. It was helpful to get a review of the instruction methods and content used by the librarians at NCSU. I attended the session with two other graduate students interested in teaching, and we were able to ask questions, and preview different tools we will use in our own instruction in the future. We mostly focused on the information needed for the First Year Writing Program, where the bulk of instruction is centered. I learned the philosophy behind face-to-face instruction versus virtual instruction tools, and later in the day was able to explore more of the libraries’ own virtual tools. Additionally, I started to learn about Camtasia. and watched introductory tutorials about using the product.
